After extensive reviews and updates to prepare for a new 3-year CE accreditation period, the National HIV Curriculum 2nd Edition will launch on September 1, 2020. Please carefully read the following changes in how to obtain and track free CE credits and UW certificates on the National HIV Curriculum.

  • From September 1, 2020 onward, the National HIV Curriculum progress tracker and any CE credit or UW Certificates of Completion earned will refer to these new lessons and question bank topics as "2nd Edition." You can obtain new 2nd Edition CE credit and new UW certificates, even if you previously obtained 1st Edition CE credit or a UW certificate on an activity. As always, all CE credits and UW certificates are free.

  • The deadline to complete any in-progress lessons or question bank topics will be midnight Pacific time on Monday, August 31, 2020. Any unsaved work (for which you have not already obtained CE credit or a UW Certificate of Completion) will disappear. The recertified content will be posted on September 1. Thus, it is essential that you wrap up and complete any ongoing work within a lesson or within a question bank topic prior to the August 31 midnight deadline.

  • Selected 2nd Edition Lessons’ Available CE Increases. If a lesson is significantly longer or more complex, the CE for the activity will increase accordingly.

  • UW Certificate of Completion Requirement Changes. After August 31, 2020, you will be required to correctly answer 80% of the questions on the lesson’s quiz and complete a brief survey to earn a free 2nd Edition UW certificate. To obtain a UW certificate for a question bank topic, you will need to correctly answer 80% of the questions and complete a brief survey. You may retake the lesson’s quiz or repeat a question bank topic as needed if you did not pass on a prior attempt. This process will be identical to what learners must complete in order to receive free CE.

  • CME + MOC Offered. If you are an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) board certified physician, please visit the 2nd Edition’s “CME + MOC” page to learn how to concurrently earn free CME credit and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points.
