Why do I need to verify my e-mail address? Is this required?

When you create an account on an IDEA curriculum, we request that you use a valid e-mail address that you can receive e-mails at. To verify that this is the case, we send two separate e-mails to the provided e-mail address:

  • the first e-mail will come from support@idea.medicine.uw.edu, and it will contain a numeric code that you can enter on the curriculum website. This code is valid for 24 hours, but we expect you to enter it promptly after registration.

  • the second e-mail will come from support@hiv.uw.edu, support@std.uw.edu, or support@hepatitisc.uw.edu (depending on which site you use to create your account) and will contain a LINK that will allow you to validate ownership of the e-mail address. This link does not expire.

Why Verify?

  • Enables Automatic Password Resets
Verifying your e-mail address will allow you to use the automatic password reset functionality on the curriculum website.

  • Required for Group Management
A verified e-mail address is required for any member of a Learning Group that is on the group's Management Team (owner, manager, or evaluator).

What happens if I don't verify my e-mail address?

  • You will not be able to interact with any group management features, and

  • You will have to contact our support team if you forget your password. Just click on the chat icon (blue circle/white square) on the lower right of your screen to contact us.
